Comments - a ghazal by Ghulam Ali. This is one of the worst examples of Kalavati that I have ever seen. If he didn't declare that this was Kalavati, we could just let it slide as just being another gazal. Unfortunately he declares that it is Kalavati then proceeds to sing a mixture of Janasamohini mixed with Rageshwari and anything else that comes to his mind. If you are looking for a good example of Kalavati you had better look elsewhere.
Comments - This starts of in a surprisingly pure rendition of Kalavati, but very quickly some mixing starts. I would especially like to draw your attention to a very prominent, very beautiful, yet very un-kalavati-ish presence of the Shuddha Nishad. There is also a slight presence of a Shuddha Madhyam; but it's presence is fleeting and not really sufficient to destroy the Kalavati mood. at the risk of over simplifying, we could say that the song itself is a cracking good Kalavati/Khammaj mix with strong Kalavati interludes.
