Info: Born in a traditional South Indian family with a rich cultural heritage, I was initiated into music at a very young age and started her musical career under the tutelage of her mother Smt.Susila Seetharaman, a senior Carnatic vocalist. I was fortunate to receive training from Tiger Varadacharya's foremost disciple, Shri Chalapuram Papa and later with Shri.Mathur P.Balasubramaniam. Am currently pursuing her music under the expert tutelage of Shri.T.V.Gopalakrishnan, an exemplary musician and a renowned musicologist. I have performed extensively in India and abroad. And I have given live concerts and also featured in South Indian premier television channels. Launched my first Carnatic album 'Carnatic Delights' in March 2006. Besides my musical pursuits, she is also an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer, trained in the Vazhuvoor style.-She has been conferred Natya Bhooshan in 1983 by Bharatnatyala and Trichy Fine arts. Her desire to propagate the rich South Indian art forms globally, led her to start Shruthi UK, a non -profit organisation, now based in Staffordshire-dedicated to music and dance. She conducts workshops and interactive sessions with children and also with the community to create an awareness and interest in our rich Indian tradition. An MBA in Marketing and Finance and Human resources, Chithra holds a doctorate in Management. She has also made her debut as a playback singer in South Indian movies.

Misc. Info: If I had to put a date to my musical journey- it probably began in the womb. My mother, Meena Chhunchha is a singer and I don't doubt that the first notes that slipped into my pre-natal consciousness were her's. She and my father, Harish Chhunchha were my greatest inspiration and I fed on the creative expression that was innate to them. As a 2 year old, I would follow my father into tabla class and during these wanderings discovered my natural inclination to the instrument. This inclination turned into a passion and at the age of 7 I became the disciple of Shri Divyang Vakil in Ahmedabad, (student of Maestro Ustaad Allah Rakhaa) and later continued instruction under Shri Sudhirkumar Saxena from Baroda. For me this meant devoting a minimum of 7 hours daily, for the next 12 years! It has since helped me carve a niche for myself in this beautiful world of music. Although training was rigorous, it was a 12 year buzz. At 8, I had my first public performance with mum and by 13, I was working with All India Radio on numerous recordings. I won all my school, inter-school, inter-college competitions, performed local gigs and simultaneously worked with the Gujarati film industry. In 1998 I won the 'Classical Tabla Solo' competition at national level in India.
: My work with Bollywood followed this, and it was amazing to play with the artistes and Directors that I had grown up admiring. Alongside studying for a B.Com. I had the privilege of playing with the likes of Suresh Wadkar, Anup Jalota, Pankaj Udhas, Udit Narayan, Anuradha Paudwal and many others, in both live concerts and recordings. Performing under the guidance of Bollywood music director Shri Naushadji and proving myself as a rhythm arranger for numerous concerts including that under the direction of Shri Anandji and Viju Shah was exciting to say the least.
