Name: Anand Vyas
Email: artisgod@gmail.com
Field: Sitar, tabla, vocal, harmonium, etc.  My main instrument is the Sitar.
Address: Atlanta (Gwinnett County), U.S.A.
Telephone: (770)381-VYAS (8927)
Misc Info: I am Ustad Sultan Khan's only Shagird (disciple) who plays the sitar rather than the sarangi of my Illustrious Guru.  There were many people in attendance at my Gandha-Bandhan (ceremony for the Guru-disciple relationship called Guru-Shishya Parampara) including Fazal Quereshi (Zakir Hussein's brother) and Ustaad Hidayat Khan among others.  The ceremony was held in Ahmedabad, India at the Poonam Palace Hotel, during Saptak over ten years ago.  I have studied Indian Classical Music for over 13 years.  I am 30 years old and was born in Queens, New York and started my music career as a "rock" guitarist.  In 2000 I moved to India for 3 years and studied with my Guru and Ustad Ghulam Rasul Khan (disciple of Rais Khan), I continue my musical studies today.  My groups WEBSITE is http://www.learn-sitar.org/ and http://www.arrowsofagape.com/.   It is composed mostly of the sitar, acoustic guitar, percussion, tabla, violin, and at certain times vocals are also present.  You can hear some of our recordings for free on our website.  Remember they have been compressed from CD quality to a very low "web streaming" bit rate (which means it will not be as faithful a reproduction of sound as a CD) in order to save space (and we will be releasing our debut CD soon : ).  I teach, play, and compose all genres of music, using Eastern Classical Music as a foundation. My prices are dependent on the individual's needs (distance to house, time student will put in practicing [what use is it if you don't practice... Even Baba Allaudin Khan could not teach a student who does not practice], etc... ?]) I do not look at my watch to see if the lesson time is over...  I am much more concerned about preserving a dying art in this "fast everything" world.  I also have a full recording studio where I give lessons, so individual recorded lessons are available as an extra.  One more thing, THE FIRST LESSON IS FREE.
